 ARTIST EXPERIENCE

Keep Prince William Beautiful/ Woodbridge, VA

Mural ∙ 2022-2023

Created a mural for the Minnieville and Dale Blvd bus stop. The mural theme was on Environmental sustainability. This artwork is about bringing awareness to environmental sustainability by promoting the diversity of the world, being in the hands of the people and the solutions and rewards the world will bring with environmentally sustainable change. The program is expected to expand to additional bus shelters in 2023.

 

National Gallery of Art: Staff Show/ Washington, D.C.

Drawing ∙ 2014-2015

Created a large artwork in personal style. The artwork discusses the imagery that we see in dreams, specifically the dreams that the artist has.

 

Student Exhibition/ Florence, Italy

Artist and Co-Curator ∙ 2013

Contributed and developed a student exhibition. The artwork that was submitted was an oil painting, black and white of two young children embracing.

 

Senior Thesis Showcase/ Lynchburg, VA

Sculpture ∙ 2012

For the senior thesis, three sculptures made out of sugar were submitted. The first was a 7 ft abstract sculpture representing the artist’s mother. The next was a 2ftX2ftX1ft box that was balanced on it’s corner, representing the artist’s grandmother. The third was a 3ftX2ftX2ft cube that represented the artists great grandmother. Each piece represente4d a strong female figure in the artist’s life. The artist also added scent to each sculpture that represented the smell of the female the sculpture represented.

The artwork was a commentary on the female health industry. The artist used tampons, wire, and wood to create the depiction of Chinese firecrackers.

Painting ∙ Spring 2011

The artwork depicted a Florentine landscape. The artwork was done in oil paint on canvas, beginning as a plain Aire painting.

A tryptic of three women. The first a small girl, the second and young woman, the third and elderly woman. Each drawing was an extension of a magazine picture done in grayscale.

 WORK EXPERIENCE

Freedom High School/ Woodbridge, VA

Art Teacher 2021- Present

I teach 9-12 grades art. I would with students to hone their skills and knowledge of the Elements of art and Principles of Design. I work with students on skill sets and understanding how to use materials. Students learn art through the standards set by the state of Virginia. Students are introduced to a variety of art through history and application. I teach drawing, ceramics, painting, and collage. I run the National Art Honor Society.

 

Parkside Middle School/ Manassas, VA

Art Teacher/ Department Head 2016- 2021

I taught grades 6-8 art. I work with students of all disability levels. I teach a variety of art skills, not limited to sculpture, painting, drawing, and technology skills. Students learn how to properly control hand eye movements as well as use materials and understanding skills. Students learn through the visual art standards in Virginia. Students are introduced to a variety of artists throughout history and in contemporary scenes. I also ran a department of three art teachers. I am responsible for budgeting, inventories, documenting lesson plans, helping the other teachers if need be, and all interactions with the Prince William County Head of Fine Arts.

 

Somerset Prep/ Washington, D.C.

Art Teacher 2015 – 2016

Developed Art program for the Charter School. I was in charge of inventory, supply, as well as developing the

curriculum. I taught 6-12 grade students art and graphic design.

 

Edmund Burke School/ Washington, D.C.

Student Teacher 2014 - 2015

Provided a high level of assistance to the lead teacher. Substituted for her classes. Maintained a gradual release of

responsibility where I took over the lead teachers responsibilities as the school trimester went on. I taught middle

school and high school students. I helped the AP Art students with their final concentrations, as well as, set up the

year-end art show. I hung artwork from various classes up throughout the semester from various classes showcasing

the unique things they were doing. Specifically, I led several projects with the 6th grade class stemming from

Surrealism (creating monsters from various animal and human parts).

 

National Gallery of Art/ Washington, D.C.

Sales Store Checker 2013-2014

Provides high level of customer service, keeps the shops neat and stocked. Operates cash register. Maintains display

areas, and cash register station. Answers questions regarding merchandise, collections, and activities.

 

Arlington Arts Center/ Arlington, VA

Educational Intern 2014

Organized and prepped studio classrooms for art education classes. Ran classes and substituted for teachers. Assisted

with public programming events and created public programming for exhibitions.

 

Greater Reston Arts Center/Reston, VA

Curatorial Intern 2013

Assisted the Curator with upcoming shows. Filled in with the Gallery Assistant. Opened and closed the Gallery.

Assisted with setting up the exhibitions. Researched artists. Compiled artists lists (45 artists) and contact information

coupled with information about the exhibitions. Compiled a history timeline of GRACE that was used in a

publication for the 40th Anniversary show.

 

Greater Reston Art Center/ Reston, VA

Assistant Art Camp Teacher 2013

Co-taught art camp classes to children, ages 7-14. Prep work for classes, led lessons, assisted lessons, helped students if they needed it. Oversaw classroom activities. Specifically created lessons dealing with the contemporary artists, Impressionism, and local community artists. Created a lesson plan for “Animals in Art” creating projects for younger children (4-7 year olds).

 

Lorenzo de Medici Student Special Exhibition—FluIdentity

Co-Curator 2013

Worked with 7 other student curators in forming relationships with student artists, selecting the artwork for the

exhibition, care and transportation of the artwork for the duration of the show, installation/ de-installation of the

exhibit, design of the exhibition, as well as all the media about the exhibition.

 

New Horizons Art School/Ashburn, VA

Assistant Teacher 2011-2012

Coordinated and supervised art curriculum for children ages 4-16; facilitated transitional activities; prepped and

broke down workspaces and maintained supplies and inventory. Helped create project guide for the “Lego Art

Camp.” Created stop motion videos with campers. Formed projects based on color theory.

 

The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, (The Duomo) / Florence, Italy

Tour Guide/Docent 2011

Led weekly, guided tours of the Renaissance cathedral in Florence. Knowledge of entire building and artwork within

studied and memorized in 3 weeks time.
